Go Be Jonah!

   A sign from God is what we as a society look for. A mighty grand powerful God, to prove His existence to a bunch of selfish and evil people who are caught up in having too much fun in their own sin. To tell the truth, God does not have to prove He exists for a second time. Well, not in a huge grand way like He did through His Son Jesus. The main point is that our society today is this city Nineveh and our Jonah was Jesus all those years ago and remains to be all of the faithful who go out and speak truth in this world of lies.

    God is not going to come down as this huge mystical, epic coming. If anyone has learned anything from how God works, it is that He is a soft voice, a quiet gesture, a good deed, a simple and humble act that everyone of us is capable of performing! What people today do not understand is that God is present in our society in every human. He is here in these words I hope, He is here in your daily prayer, The Mass, Confession, the Retreat I will be putting on later today! God is here in every sign of Love that is truly not done in a selfish manner.

    So if God is here through all of us, then why is it so hard for people to believe or to hear or see God? Well it is hard for us because we are blinded and def by our own selfishness and sin. It is hard to see someone or hear their voice when we are only listening for our own! Think about it this way... You have been asked to walk a very difficult path to get from point A(Birth) to point B(Heaven) and in this difficult path there are random obstacles to maybe slow you down or keep you from reaching point B (Sin/Temptation/Life Events). Standing in front of you at point B is God, who is always calling out for you to follow His voice and behind you is Jesus, always looking to help guide you. Now there is you standing there with a blindfold on (None of us can see God). Your goal is to get from point A to point B without hitting the obstacles. Well to do that you need to either listen for God's voice or ask for Jesus to help guide you. Let's throw in another wrench into this equation. You cannot hear God's voice due to your own sinfulness and selfishness, so you have headphones on.... now the only way you will ever get to Heaven (point B) is by calling out for Jesus to help you. The question is, do you truly believe Jesus will come and help you?

   This is our society. We allow ourselves to become so blind and def to the voice of God or the willingness to Trust that God is there, that we never ask for the help! We ask for God to show Himself to us daily, but when He shows up we ignore Him. We act like we are not impressed, but yet when a tragedy hits our lives He is the first to blame! People, this is where we become the Jonah of the Gospel! We are to step up and be Christ to everyone we meet! We are called to be the symbol or sign of God to everyone we meet. The challenge for today is to go out and be that witness of Christ to everyone no matter how many times they look at you funny or say "NO" or even just ignore you. Eventually the truth will hit them! Go out and be that Jonah to someone today and forever! Let us take a note from our very first Bishops the Apostles who were ordinary men inspired by the Holy Spirit to go out and tell everyone about the truth of Jesus Christ!
